I have varied where I have taken my magazine photos the main
photos on the front, cover contents page and my feature article have all been
taken outside. The front cover image was taken at a converted barn of one of my
friend’s house. I decided to use this to my advantage because by having a
greenery background and my model leaning against the back wall of the barn; it
looks more professional rather than just having a green background. My contents
page photo was taken in an area of woodlands not far from the location of the
barn. Although you cannot see much of the woods in the background, you can see
some of the woods which adds to the country outdoor affect. However my feature
article photo of my model sitting on a motor bike is taken at the end of a
housing estate road that overlooks a farmer’s field. My model is positioned on
the bike with her back to the field, facing towards the sun in order for sun to
light up her face whilst setting and giving off an orange/yellow colour.
The photos I have chosen for my contents page are one of my
model in a music recording studio. I have chosen a different setting for my
photo on the contents page so that it gives a variety of not only background
but clothes as well. In my photos for my cover my model is in nice country
clothing specially selected for the photo shoot whereas the clothes she is in
when in the recording studio are more casually this is to portray her working
in a comfortable environment in her everyday clothing to give more a variety to
my pictures. Another photo I have used are one of a male model with a white
cowboy hat with the sky as the background. This was also chosen so that there
is more variety of models within the magazine that contrasts. This photo is
associated with the article ‘WIN A chance to meet Jason Aldean’ (who the male
model is in the photo)
I have also used another two picture one of my originally
female model in a country shirt that was taken from the main photo shoot
showing some insight into the photo shoot and to appeal to my target audience
and readers. The other photo is of a guitar that was taken a low angle giving a
variety of the different angles I used whilst taking photos. The photo of the
guitar is associated with the competition of winning a signed guitar by a
country band.
The props I used for my front cover picture were the clothes
she is wear which are dark blue denim jeans, a patch work red top and a blue
with red collar and cuffs denim jacket and she is also wearing glasses. My
contents page image a medium close up of my model wearing a dark navy and red
patterned top as well as her glasses. My feature article has the most props
over all three main images. My model is wearing a red floral dress, the same
denim jacket as she is wearing on the font cover and brown cowboy boots from
Texas. She is also wearing sterling silver jewellery rings and a bracelet and
her glasses. My model is also wearing a black cowboy hat whilst sitting on a
Harley Davidson sportster, 98 plate, 95th anniversary limited
edition.
My model used all of these props because they represent my
genre and target audience and to add some variety and difference to my magazine
and show other parts of country music.
